The clocks changed today, and summer time is here – albeit only by name.
However, it brings us wonderful late daylight, and Sarah and I used the bright and breezy afternoon to transport a lot of little plants to the allotment. I have had a new order of strawberry runners delivered (Albion and Cupid, both late varieties), and while it’s still a bit muddy outside, we have potted them up in rich compost for now. I will transplant them once the ground has heated up a bit.
Next to the greenhouse, the old strawberry plot was laying a bit bare, and I dug it over and placed our leftover raspberry canes in it.
Finally, we potted up a whole tray of sweetpea seedlings and another tray of peas.
We watered the salads in the greenhouse, the seedling trays of beetroot and more peas, and happily left with a box of kale and purple-sprouting broccoli.
